Ok, now before you lose total respect for me, I do like football, and enjoy playing it. I don’t watch too much of it, but I did watch the Superbowl, and rooted for the Patriots. I can even say I really enjoyed it, and it was probably the best game I have ever seen. But, is the best game ever, more important than God? No Which is exactly why I’m writing this. All football games, are on Sunday. As a Catholic, you are required to go to mass, on Sunday, or Saturday night, at the 4:15, or 5:15, or whatever time your church has mass. God first, then country, then family, then work, then sports. And
there’s no reason not to go to mass, and say a rosary on Superbowl Sunday. I did, and we still made dinner, we still went to mass, we still made snacks, and we still watched to whole Superbowl, Pre-Game and all! But, we are so obsessed, that we can’t go to mass, because we had to have a huge party. When you die, do you think God will say, “Oh, don’t worry about missing mass on Superbowl Sunday, I did too. I was too busy setting up a party.” No! My pastor made a remark, at the end of mass that Sunday. “And please say a prayer, for all those who are not here, because they are too busy setting up for a party, or watching the 10 Hour Pre-Game Show.” And he was right. There was almost no one there!!! And for all you Patriots fans – Your team lost. God never loses. And for all you
Giants fans – You may have won this year, but what about next year. At lease God guarantees a victory every year. And I will close, by reminding you all, that today is a fast day, and you can only two small meals, not equaling up to one full meal, and one full meal, at the end of the day. And, NO MEAT! Not today, Or any Friday, not just in Lent, but throughout the whole year!
